About Dr Zuko Booi

Dr Z Booi is a well-known and recommended Vascular surgeon in Johannesburg. He is affectionately known as “The Good Dr”, a name first coined by his running mates. He was born and raised in a small rural village of Mqanduli in the Eastern Cape. 

He obtained his medical degree (MBBCh) at the university of the Witwatersrand. He served in Pietermaritzburg (KZN) during his internship and community service. He then completed his specialist training in General Surgery FCS(SA) with the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa, during which time he also acquired Master of Medicine (Mmed) with the Wits University.

His skills are combined with a wealth of five-years experience in general surgery, after which he pursued his studies in sub-specialty training in Vascular surgery and obtained his certificate, Cert Vasc (SA), with the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa.

Dr Booi is a passionate vascular surgeon who is also an avid runner. He draws inspiration from the discipline and resilience required in his long-distance running (multiple comrades finisher), giving him all the patience and endurance required in this demanding field. His clinical focus is on the diagnosis and treatment of arterial and venous vascular conditions with expertise in both open and minimally invasive endovascular procedures. His services also include renal access creation and management for dialysis patients.

Dr Booi  is a dedicated professional and a devoted family man. He values strong relationships and community. Dr Booi believes in partnering closely with patients to ensure  that they feel informed and supported throughout their vascular journey while striving to provide the highest standard of vascular care.
